This day in age there’s a new study out every day it seems focusing on what to eat and what not to eat.  So today I want to focus on providing you with three reasons why diets don't work and why thinking thin always does:

  1. The Brain Hates Too Much Information
    If there is too much data coming into your brain, we know that a confused mind does nothing. Instead of bringing in gobs of tools and tips, focus on one simple action this week in the area you struggle with the most. If, for example, if you'd like to shift late night eating – focus on enjoying the evening the way you would as your healthiest most beautiful self. See this new behavior in  your mind's eye and rehearse it 3-5 times until you are excited about enjoying the evening in a new fashion. Relax and get comfortable in this new way of being at night – and just watch what happens to your body!
  2. The Brain Hates Rules 
    Diets don’t work because they focus on too many rules and when we feel controlled, we naturally and automatically want to resist.  Instead of focusing on rules – focus instead on the life you want to live as a thinner you, as a happier and healthier you. That’s where true motivation lies. It doesn’t lie in rules, it lies in seeing a better life for yourself and your body and taking small actions to get there.
  3. The Brain Hates Fighting Off Cravings and Hunger.
    Have you ever said “I’m going to stop eating sugar” and the second you do that what does your brain do? It thinks about sugar!  Then you walk around all day saying “I’m not eating sugar, I’m not eating sugar, sugar is bad for me.” Don’t you think about 8 hours in you would combust and just go eat sugar? Isn't that what actually happens?Diets inherently put our brain in a fighting state to fight off cravings and hunger.  Instead, what if you said “Today I'd like to focus on eating more live foods – foods that are naturally bright and colorful and lets see how I feel.” What is your mind thinking about now? Bright and colorful food. Great! YES! That's what thinking thin allows you to get thin!

Diets don’t work but shifting your mind in the right way does. You can see that from these very simple examples I just shared yet every day people come to me and focused on the wrong thing – forcing themselves to lose weight, focusing on lack and the weight they can't get off verses positioning their brain and focusing on the weight and life they desire.

How you use your mind has everything to do with the weight loss results that you will achieve. Diets don’t work for the long haul!
