Happy Monday. I was thinking that so many times I hear the word “perfect” as it relates to losing weight and it drives me crazy because that puts so much pressure on you and often leads to binges. You don't have to be “perfect” to lose weight, here's what you have to be…

1. In a Mental Place of Decision

You have to DECIDE that you are sick and tired of feeling uncomfortable in your clothes, tired of not having energy, tired of feeling bloated, fat and embarrassed all the time.

You have to DECIDE to be different. To make a change and you must keep deciding to change even when times are tough and you don't want to.

2. Get Clear of What Needs to Change.

There are typically two reasons people struggle with weight (1) They are overeating and/or emotional eating or (2) They have inflammation in their body, which basically means a sensitivity to certain foods.

Knowing which is showing up for you is essential. Lay out a simple plan with one step each week to tackle the area you need support in. For example, if you feel overeating in front of the TV is really impacting your weight. Cut out just that this week and see how you do; then build.

If you feel that overeating/emotional eating and inflammation are both at play, consider enrolling in the Gold Member program where we address both! It's not about perfection – and we get amazing results.

3. Don't Think PERFECTION, Think IMPROVEMENT

I hate the idea of going on and then off of something, which is why I hate dieting. I could give you 100 reasons why dieting sucks. You want to live in harmony with food, have control over what you eat, and be thin right? To create a thin you, it takes ending overeating/emotional eating and reducing inflammation.

To rewire your brain to think and live thin, it doesn't mean you have to be PERFECT giving up certain foods forever….the second you go in to that space in your mind, you set yourself up for a binge – I guarantee it.

Just keep improving. Rewiring your brain to think, eat and live thin is literally like learning another language and it takes practice, patience and continuing to DECIDE to be all that you can be by taking small steps to get there.

Remember, you don't have to be perfect to lose weight, you have to be willing to keep improving and you will move forward, you will progress and you will love the process at the same time. It's not about you being perfect to lose weight, remember that!
