Studying the naturally thin is what I’ve done much of my life so today I’ve created some easy to follow tips that you can do to move through the holiday season like the naturally thin.
How the Naturally Thin Stay Thin Through The Holidays….
1. Turn Lack Thinking Into Thin Thinking
Some people think all the extra food at the office is punishment or those numerous parties flowing with food is painful to avoid, but the naturally thin don’t see it this way at all.
The way you think about the holidays will dramatically affect the way you feel, which in turn will effect your behaviors. So instead of focusing on having to say no to yourself these next few weeks around food, make a list of you can say YES to.
* Yes to holiday music.
* Yes to connecting and seeing friends.
* Yes to food when you’re hungry.
* Yes to celebrating another year to come.
2. Say Yes to Food
The naturally thin don’t say no to holiday foods. However, they say YES to them when they are hungry and only when they are hungry. So they don’t feel lack or deprived when it comes to eating, but instead feel in control of the WHEN. The when to eat is when they are hungry and only when they are hungry.
3. Stop Weighing Yourself Every Day
Although some studies show that stepping on the scale every day helps some people keep their weight under control, the naturally thin don’t weigh themselves but a few times a year.
Hormonal fluctuations in your 40s + are common due to hormones and fluid shifts. Not to mention, weighing yourself daily can create emotional highs and lows or contribute feelings of “being good” or “being bad” which is never okay.
If you must weigh, weigh in once a week through the holidays. According to Linda Spangle, the best days are Wednesdays or Thursdays.
4. Take Care of Yourself More
The truth is, the naturally thin are better at taking care of themselves and nurturing their needs. Whether that’s sticking to movement or getting a manicure and pedicure to relax and calm their busy nerves, they take the time to honor themselves throughout the bustle of the holiday season.
5.Gain the Thin Skill of Trust
While I was fighting with my body to stick to a diet, the naturally thin I studied trusted their bodies. When you turn inward to listen to what your body needs, you will learn to trust that it knows hunger, it knows when to stop eating, it knows what foods work best and it knows how to be thin.
It’s when we push more food into our bodies BECAUSE it takes good, BECAUSE it looks good, or BECAUSE it’s the holiday season and this food is only available at certain times of the year. If you let go of that NEED for food and the “BECAUSE” conversation and just listen to what your body needs, then you will naturally thin down and feel normal with food and not like you have to deprive yourself.
